Hello, We had a great week last week! It was hard for everyone to come back after the vacation, but we ended in full swing, and I feel like this next semester will be fantastic for everyone. This week, term 2 ends on Tuesday, 1/15. That is the same day that we will be on our field trip. :) I have had quite a few students come to me to find out what they are missing. As always, I suggest that they get on Aspire to see for themselves. Aspire is a fantastic tool and can be checked weekly. In fact, for my own children, I've set it up to generate reports to be emailed to me (daily for one child, and weekly for another...hahaha). This is a great time to get on Aspire and to go through red homework folders and backpacks to see if there is any missing work to turn in BY MONDAY. Speaking of the field trip, please make sure your student dresses for the cold, and either brings a lunch from home or if you've already ordered one, from ELA. I think it will be a fantastic day. In language arts, this week's story selection genre is mystery, and the students will be practicing visualization while reading, and comparing and contrasting things and situations in literature. We will be working on synonyms and antonyms, singular and plural pronouns, as well as expression and fluency in writing. The spelling words are contractions, which shouldn't be too difficult. Please note that the fantasy genre book reports are due on 1/25/19. Click here for all the information you need to know about the book report. We will begin chapter 7 in math this week. We will be focusing on patterns and sequences in math. We worked on Sierpinski Triangles on Friday, so I think that will tie right in with our new chapter. Our class completed the 4-6 benchmark test today. We have some work to do to get them corrected, but the score should be available sometime this week. In history, we will continue our work on the Great Utahn Award information, as well as continuing to memorize the 29 counties. If anyone would like to, here's a website that has a game the students have enjoyed playing. If you'd like the actual website, here it is: https://www.sporcle.com/games/captainchomp/click-the-utah-counties-map We will be rotating science teachers for the third time. My students will be learning about the water cycle and weather with Mrs. Meredith for Term 3. I think that's about all. I hope that you are all keeping warm and that you have a great week! Please email if you have any questions or comments.
