Hello Flyer Parents,
It's a short week! I hope you that you have some down time activities planned for the extra long weekend. Because it's a short week, we will not be doing a spelling list, but we will be doing a CCR test and vocabulary check on this week's story selection on Wednesday. This week's selection is entitled "Cliff Hanger". It's a realistic fiction story about a boy's rock climbing adventures. We will be focusing on character development, plot, and theme. Book reports are due on 3/25/19. More details about the book reports can be found here. In math, we have been working on operations with fractions. If you really want to help your students succeed, please help them practice simplifying (reducing) fractions. You can also really improve their chances in math by reviewing how to change improper fractions to proper fractions (this will involve a mixed number), and changing a mixed number into an improper fraction. I'm pleased with how hard the students are working, but my goodness, there's a lot to learn in 4th grade! We will continue our migration simulation this week. The students have been divided into families, and they will be stocking their figurative wagons and getting ready to embark. I think that's enough for this week. I hope you have a wonderful little break!
