Hello Everyone,
Sorry I didn't get this out earlier, I was grading math quizzes and assignments. Thanks for your involvement in our STEM activity quiz challenge. We had 14 students from my class achieve 90% or higher on the 10 question quiz I gave this morning. Many students were in the 70%-80% range. Great job! In math, we will continue with fractions, and the test will be given some time this week. In language arts, we will be doing an autobiography about a woman who spends 4 months in Antarctica. The spelling words the students are learning have Latin roots. Their lists came home today. We will be focusing on main idea and text structure. We are also writing a really fun story about what would happen if a spaceship were to land in one's backyard. We have been doing a lot of technical writing, so this story form has been fun. This will be put into Utah Compose, and I'd like to see the students shoot for a grade of at least 25/30. I have been really impressed with the great writing my students have been doing. Information about biography book reports are HERE. And, when it's time to send me your student's video, please send it to this link on my Google Drive. Book reports are due on 3/25/19. In history, the student "families" have packed their wagons, purchased supplies, and we'll head out on our virtual trek across the plains tomorrow. It has been so fun to hear about what seems important to a 4th grader when purchasing supplies. I had to keep a straight face while one boy shared his concerns about how many jars of pickles his pioneer family might need while heading west. These are the things I love about working with kids! Mrs. Meredith's science class is wrapping up, and I'll have my own class for the 4th term rotation about Utah's biomes starting in April. One last thing, we will be starting Tanner Dance this Friday. Thanks for reading all the way to the end! Have a fantastic week!
