Hello Flyer Parents! I hope that you had a fantastic week off! My family and I went to the Colorado Plateau region of Utah (aka Moab and Cortez, Colorado). We went to Arches National Park and then we saw the Anasazi cliff dwellings in Mesa Verde National Park. It was a blast, but I actually looked forward to getting back onto a schedule. Students came home with a new spelling list today. I was seriously impressed with the scores from the tests from the 12th, so keep up the great work at home! Also, please make sure that your students are completing their Lexia minute requirements. We work on Lexia during our language arts block, so most of your students will finish their minutes here at school. However, some of my students have an 80 minute requirement, and that will require time at home to reach the goal. Also, Lexia is amazing and can only help your student, so I'm totally fine with extra minutes. Book reports are due this Thursday, with no late work permitted since it's the end of the term. Here is the link . I have also provided the book report pages at school, if they weren't printed out at home. We will be taking a math benchmark on chapters 1-3 this Wednesday. Our class average for our chapter 3 test taken on 10/12 was 87%, so I was thrilled with that. Keep going with ALEKS and Reflex at home! Next week is Red Ribbon week. I had the students write down the themes for each of the days. Please remember that on 10/31, the students are to dress as a book character, and must bring or make a book to support their outfit. That same day, we will be having our Fall Festival class party from 1:30-3. It will be a time for pumpkin cookies and other fall games to celebrate this wonderful autumn season. We have a small sign-up sheet for a couple of items needed for the party if you'd like to help out. We also need a couple of parent volunteers. Click here for the link. A word about the class t-shirt order. Shirts are $10, payable to the office (not to me). A sign up sheet came home today with directions on how to order a shirt. They are really cute, and the students can wear them on spirit dress days, as well as on field day next spring. The final day to turn in your order is 10/30. Please make sure to send the order forms along with the $, making sure to specify your child's shirt size. Thanks! I think that's enough for now. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I really care about each of my students, and I want to know about anything that will help them have a wonderful 4th grade year.
